Technical Expertise and Technological Innovation

 

Our recent interventions focus on mitigating the impacts of fishing on marine megafauna through the integration of cutting-edge technologies. We spearhead the development and testing of innovative fishing gear, specifically on-demand (ropeless) buoy systems, to eliminate entanglement risks in critical areas. This work is supported by marine mammal distribution surveys and rigorous entanglement risk analyses, providing evidence-based data for effective fisheries management.

The expertise of M - Expertise Marine is built on close collaboration with major research hubs. As active members of the Réseau Québec Maritime (RQM) and Ressources Aquatiques Québec (RAQ), we contribute to the advancement of knowledge and the promotion of St. Lawrence seafood products.
