Our projects
M - Expertise Marine delivers concrete solutions to ensure the long-term viability of fishing activities within an environment of increasing ecological challenges. Under the leadership of Dr. Lyne Morissette, a graduate of the prestigious Fisheries Centre at the University of British Columbia, the firm conducts applied research projects that position Canada as a leader in the coexistence of fisheries and protected marine species.
Technical Expertise and Technological Innovation
Our recent interventions focus on mitigating the impacts of fishing on marine megafauna through the integration of cutting-edge technologies. We spearhead the development and testing of innovative fishing gear, specifically on-demand (ropeless) buoy systems, to eliminate entanglement risks in critical areas. This work is supported by marine mammal distribution surveys and rigorous entanglement risk analyses, providing evidence-based data for effective fisheries management.
Collaboration and Excellence Networks
The expertise of M - Expertise Marine is built on close collaboration with major research hubs. As active members of the Réseau Québec Maritime (RQM) and Ressources Aquatiques Québec (RAQ), we contribute to the advancement of knowledge and the promotion of St. Lawrence seafood products. Our projects systematically place fishers at the heart of the solutions—as demonstrated by our work on coexistence in the Gaspé Peninsula—to ensure that conservation and economic viability progress in tandem.
Our services provide partners and clients with high-level scientific expertise to meet the most stringent sustainability requirements of the global market.
