The “Young Ambassador of the St. Lawrence” project:

From October to June, students from the “blue school” of  Grand Pavois de Saint-Yves, in Rimouski, explored the depths and the mysteries of the St. Lawrence. Then, they used their new knowledge to create works of art, each involving different techniques and materials. All along the creation process, students were mentored, once a month, by the scientist Lyne Morissette and the artist Caroline Jacques. At the end of this arts & science project, an exhibit was presented and students received the “Young Ambassadors of the St. Lawrence” medal. In addition to create a sense of belonging to the St. Lawrence and to the importance of conservation for its richnesses, they became, for the rest of their life, the bearers of a protection message for the St. Lawrence and oceans in general.

Proud of this success and of what now represents a seal of excellence for this project, Lyne Morissette and Caroline Jacques now hope to export it in other schools of Québec and elsewhere in the world, in order to train even more young ambassadors and thus increase the global impact of their actions on the conservation of oceans of our planet.
